What do you think most of all contribute to delaying the maturation of our youth?
I am always struck by the opening chapter of Johnny Tremaine. I believe the young man is about 14 and on the verge of getting married and inheriting a well established business. Could you imagine giving a small business over to teenager? or even a 20-something? Sure every now and then we get a precocious Wesley Crusher but of course the problem with that squirt was his lack of human experience, his in ability to know how to interact with peers and adults and to make good decisions.
When the practice of the faith become as so many chains, weighing us down rather than lifting us up, it can be useful to recall the bare minimum to be a practicing Catholic.
